Stew Souls

Stew Souls was made in 72 Hours as an entry in the Ludum Dare 43 game jam. There were two main goals set when designing the game:

  1. Make something featuring fun, but non-violent, arcade gameplay that still fits with the jam's "Sacrifices must be made" theme.
  2. Implement the interesting visual effect commonly called "Fake 3D" (described fairly well in this blog post)

The final entry featured gameplay that requires players to balance growing their garden, drinking stew to stay alive, and sacrificing their garden in order to make more stew, so the first goal was achieved. The second goal was achieved by pushing the Haxeflixel framework beyond its normally 2D-only capabilities.
